Lorna Diane has been a Hartford resident for 24 years and was born in Bridgeport, CT. Her love of music started early when she learned to play the piano and started singing. After high school, she did perform with a few local bands in Bridgeport and while in college in New Haven. With a desire to expand her musical aspirations, Lorna Diane began her radio career as a volunteer at WYBC at Yale University.  She started working part-time at an AM Rhythm & Blues station and from that she landed her first full time on-air position in Cleveland, OH. A decision she has never regretted. She said, “If you’re afraid to take a chance on a dreams you have, you’ll be scared for the rest of your life.”
From Solid Gold Soul to Smooth Jazz, from Light Rock to Urban Contemporary Lorna Diane continued to flourish in the commercial and non-profit radio industry as well as in television being an on-air talent during public broadcasting telethons. She has been hosting the “Mix Bag of Jazz” on WRTC 89.3 FM, at Trinity College and is the Jazz Coordinator. Lorna Diane also hosts a weekly jazz show Monday – Friday called the “Jazz Night Flight” on the digital outlet, Jazz Beats Radio. Lorna Diane has hosted a few events in Hartford, including the Hartford Festival of Jazz.
Finding it challenging to get into voice-overs, she decided to acquire her own audio production company. Anchor’s Away Studios, LLC allows her and others who wish to learn how to produce and record promotions and radio programs. In her spare time, Lorna Diane volunteers at CRIS Radio, a radio station for the visually impaired.
Her personality is second to none and her on-air voice is a silky-smooth blend of warmth and friendliness, as it finds its way to the listener’s ears. She aspires to motivate and share her knowledge and experience with others. She says, “I’m always looking forward to serving great music as a main dish to all my listeners!”
